Solo-Teaching: It has
been such a pleasure getting to know all of your children this semester!!!
I have learned so much from every single one of them! They are truly a unique
class and I am so thankful that I was lucky enough to be placed with Mrs.
McGee. I am incredibly anxious to finally graduate college but because of
the great relationships that I have formed with everyone in class, it will
be sad to leave! I have truly enjoyed my student teaching experience and I
feel that I have Mrs. McGee and this awesome bunch of kids to thank for it!
J Grades: I
imagine that many of you are probably wondering about grades being posted
on PowerSchool and I wanted to let you know that
as a student teacher, I am not permitted to enter grades in the computer. I
am keeping up with daily grades and once Mrs. McGee and I get together to
discuss them, they will be posted online. If you have any questions or
concerns about grades PLEASE feel free to call me, drop by, or e-mail! Reading
Week: This
year’s reading week will take place 5/5- 5/7. We will be having a
competition between all classes at McKinley to see which class can read and
take the most AR tests. We are designating this week to reading and we
invite you to help motivate your children to read at home also! Field
Trips: As you
all know, the end of the school year brings tons of excitement and fun!
There has been a change in the date and time for our field trip to the
Riverside Nature Center. The field trip will now take place May 5th,
from 9:45-1:30. **We are
in need of chaperones for the Write-A-Thon field trip! We will need four
parents to join. If you are interested in helping out, please contact me
and let me know!*** Other
Events: All
fifth grade students recently learned about the Laptop Initiative program,
which will grant your children their own laptop computers next year as
sixth graders! Also, our class recently watched the boys and girls
“Growing Up” videos. Coming up in May, students will be
attending an AIDS Awareness presentation and McKinley’s Jumpstart
presentation. McKinley’s annual Munchies for Mom day will be held on
Friday, 5/7. Please come join us for yummy breakfast, coffee, and fun! J I will be sending home
more information about Munchies for Mom day soon. Moving
Forward Ceremony: All
fifth grade students at McKinley will be taking part in the annual Moving
Forward Ceremony! It’s an exciting way for students to be recognized
for their years of hard work in elementary school! If you are interested in
helping out in any way please e-mail me. Jennifer Caliendo
is organizing the ceremony and I will give her a list of people who would
like to help out!
