Objective:
The objective of this
lesson is to introduce students to the book Chicka
Chicka Boom Boom by
Bill Martin Jr. and John Archembault. Students will
think about the previous reading of Chicka
Chicka Boom Boom and try to answer
questions such as: “What is story about?” “Why might it be called Chicka Chicka Boom Boom?” Students will become more familiar with the
alphabet by reciting the ABC Song and also by playing with interactive “Chicka Chicka” Chart. Students
will also use pictures and language as classroom discussion. |

Chicka Chart. |
Prior Knowledge: Students must have previously
been introduced to the alphabet. Students must have read the story Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and understand the basic story line.

Prerequisite Skills: Students
must be able to identify all twenty six letters of the alphabet. |
Guided Practice: Teacher will read the story to
students. They will listen then interact when teacher
instructs them to. Teacher will show students how to use the Chicka Chicka Chart. The
teacher will sing the ABC Song with students.

Assessment: Students will be assessed by participation in the
shared reading activity (Chicka Chicka
Chart). |
Wrap Up: Students will join into groups and sing the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom poem while using the interactive Chicka Chicka Chart. Students could use classmates’ names instead of letters on the Chicka Chicka Chart. |
Independent Practice: Students
will think about questions asked about the story.
