I Am From Poem

9/4/08

 I Am From....by Brittany Burns

I am from the dewy grass on a softball field

And from the salty seeds of a sunflower.

I am from the smell of sweat and sunscreen

On a hot summer day.

I am from writing “I can’t wait until..”

And “Oh My Gosh!” in my pink flower diary.

I am from late nights of Super Mario Brothers,

Hot chocolate, and from friends that stood by my side.

I am from always trying to see the best in people,

Even when it hurts.

From laughing and dancing, eraser collections,

and neon colored puff paint shirts.

I am from riding my bike until sunset,

And long days of fishing.

From early morning birthday wishes

And my Popples lunchbox that turned up missing.

I am from the stretched out windows of my first family home welcoming in the morning sun,

I am from a tablespoon of hazelnut coffee creamer,

And the smell of an early morning run.

I am from hugs and kisses,

And X's and O's.

I am from peanut butter pancakes for dinner,

BLT's for breakfast,

and sometimes having to learn things the hard way.

I am from side walk chalk and always wanting to live by the ocean.

I am from a family overflowing  with love and devotion.
