Teaching Reflection

This reading class was focused more towards older elementary students as compared to Reading in the Elementary Classroom I. I found this class extremely beneficial and I was able to take countless great ideas from my teacher! I found that she taught us a lot more than just theories on teaching reading, but instead incorporated ideas that really work for her students in her classroom. She taught us how to document running records and also how to keep ongoing reflection portfolios on students in order to document their growth in reading and comprehension. I was introduced to literature circles and I completely feel in love with the idea and have had a lot of success with them during practicum work!
